The second semester is greeting CSIA with a hint of autumn in the air. After a long Thanksgiving break, it’s time to dive back into the busy school life. In the weeks ahead, students will face a series of quizzes, presentations, papers, and exams. While everything might feel overwhelming and keep you stressed, it's important to remember to catch your breath. Taking a walk around the school and enjoying the autumn landscape can provide a refreshing break from your schoolwork.
Since September marks the beginning of the second semester's school newspaper uploads, let’s take a brief look at what awaits us in the 2nd semester.
October kicks off with Armed Forces Day on the 1st, where students are given the day for self-study at school. The following day, students will be sent home early. On October 5th, international track students will take the SAT. Soon after, on October 10th, the autumn field trip will provide a chance to relax and enjoy the crisp autumn air. For domestic track students, mock Korean SAT exams are scheduled for October 15th. Surprisingly enough, students are soon to be thrown into 4 days of Midterm exams, from October 22nd to 25th.
October concludes with open classes from October 30th to November 1st, with Costume Day in the middle. Student departments have already chosen their costumes and are in a rush to get ready for the day so there are high expectations.
As we enter November, the SAT for international track students is scheduled for November 2nd. From November 4th to 15th, parents will have the opportunity to contact teachers for counseling sessions. On November 14th, domestic track students will sit for the Korean SAT, a significant milestone in their academic journey.
In December, international track students will take another SAT on the 7th. Though it is not certain, some speculate the middle school instrumental concert will be held just two weeks before the final exams. Finals, scheduled for December 16th to 20th, will no doubt be a pressuring and overwhelming week, but students can look forward to more enjoyable events afterward.
Finally! Finals are checked off of our to-do list and students are given more enjoyable times at school. The CSIA Middle School Music Festival will be held on Christmas Eve. Then will the students be staying at school on Christmas? Although it is unsure, there are predictions that either students will stay at school optionally on Christmas or leave school the day before, right after the music festival. Finally, the Graduation Ceremony on December 31st will end the year on a high note, as we bid farewell to the graduates as well as the year, 2024.
Although the schedule for 2025 is not yet confirmed, students are likely stay home during the first week of January.
The Quill hopes that every student at CSIA will accomplish their goals, create meaningful memories, and greet 2025 with excitement in the 2nd semester.
